Control the Controllables™

"I am convinced I was able to tolerate my radiation and chemo because of the guidance you gave me...I thank you for that.

I am so glad that [my oncologist] recommended that I reach out to you so many months ago. You have truly helped me not only with my dietary choices but helped to raise my awareness of how it all syncs with my lifestyle as a whole... I am convinced I was able to tolerate my radiation and chemo because of the guidance you gave me... I thank you for that.

- Dave, Mentorship Program Student

A cancer diagnosis brings on a cascade of emotions.

A cancer diagnosis brings on a cascade of emotions.

After a cancer diagnosis, in treatment, and into survivorship...

01

Overwhelm. After a diagnosis, it often feels like everything is unfolding faster than we can keep up and finding the mental capacity to sift through all the information is overwhelming.

02

Lack of control. We cannot control cancer itself and it often feels as though cancer is in the driver's seat.

03

Exhausted. Mentally, emotionally, and physically - the packed calendar of appointments, side effects of treatments, yet still having to manage the life that continues around you despite cancer.

04

Seeking Clarity. The deep desire of leaving no stone unturned when facing all the choices so we can make the best decision for our journey.

Fewer treatment related side effects.

Research Suggests Nutrition Intervention During Cancer Treatment is Associated with*:

Fewer hospitalizations.

Improved quality of life.

I'm Alison. A cancer survivor, thriver and dietitian.

I'm not your average dietitian. My focus on nutrition and lifestyle against cancer isn't just a profession or a passion - it's personal.

My professional experience as a board certified oncology dietitian coupled with my own personal experience with cancer and its treatments provide me a unique perspective of being able to relate to my students on an entirely different level. As my students often tell me, "You just get it." And that, I do.

Proper nutrition and an individualized approach during cancer treatment is one of the incredible tools we have available - yet is often left out completely from a treatment protocol. And sometimes, when nutrition is discussed with your cancer provider or dietitian, you're left with a general nutrition handout you probably could have wrote yourself...eek.

That’s why I’ve blended the best scientific evidence, nearly 10 years of professional experience, and my personal experience to save you the overwhelm and time digging through Google, recommendations that work, and perhaps even more importantly - your ability to direct your energy (emotional & physical) to where it matters most.

It’s time to reduce your treatment side-effects, improve your quality of life, and ultimately - take back the control cancer stole.

“With Alison, there was no pressure. She gave us recipes and ideas on what we could do that were realistic for us. I noticed I started feeling better, the chemo treatments weren’t as bad. Alison’s recipes and tools also gave my family and caregivers something they could help with to make me feel better. As a result, my whole family is eating better and we all feel healthier. For us, this has become a long-term lifestyle.”

Jim Luzinger, Stage 4 Colon Cancer

“I love Alison’s teaching style. She gives you the information, but also explains why it’s important and how to implement it. She explains things in a way that’s easy to understand. She does not make you feel bad at all if you have a slip-up. Whatever lifestyle you choose, she’s there to guide and help. After implementing the plant-based diet I definitely felt better. My joints felt better, more clarity, less brain fog, better energy. I truly believe the better you can feed your body, the better you can heal.”

Daina Boppre, Stage 4 Breast Cancer, Rheumatoid Arthritis

“Alison is just wonderful. She doesn’t judge. She just offers you wonderful information and everything is evidence-based. She had reasons for everything she shared, she could show me why it was a good idea and how I could start doing it. I was 243 pounds when we started and now I weigh 156. Using food as medicine has helped me feel better, I can be more active, and I enjoy being active now. Whether you’re sick or not, this is just a good idea.”

Kathy Sneider, Metaplastic Breast Cancer

A Program Unlike Any Other Program

Merging evidence-based recommendations with practical, realistic IMPLEMENTATION

I created The Wholesome Journey program because it was the exact program I was looking for when I started my plant-based journey. Despite my years of education to become a dietitian - including a master's degree - the truth is we just aren't taught plant-based nutrition or cancer nutrition, let alone the two together. After years of doing my own digging, personal implementation, and walking hundreds of cancer patients through my 4-pillar process, I decided it was finally time to put it into an easy-to-access program for you. The Wholesome Journey merges evidence-based nutrition recommendations from top cancer agencies around the world with real-life, practical implementation to help you improve treatment tolerance, reduce the risk of recurrence, and to thrive.

I'm a 4 year breast cancer survivor. Alison was, in many ways, key to my survival. She helped me change my life with FOOD, of all things. I can't recommend her enough, to everyone. You won't regret it.

Even when you did everything right...

I'll always remember those phone calls. My mom calling to tell me she had breast cancer. The one informing me my grandfather had liver cancer, my godmother breast cancer, and my grandmother breast cancer.

Then I received my very own phone call confirming I had breast cancer. I knew from my years as a cancer dietitian that you could "do everything right" and still get cancer. But it was the realization that those things I did right were the things that were going to help me thrive through surgery, treatment and into survivorship. Now, I want to help you do the same.

Certainly, there is no guarantee in anything. However, there is incredible power in focusing on controlling the controllables.

And as a one of my very own clients and cancer thrivers told me, I want to tell you the same...

You did not cause your cancer. But, you can control how you respond to it.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I have to become vegan or vegetarian?

Certainly not! The Wholesome Journey programming supports individuals seeking 100% vegan or vegetarian, or those seeking a plant-forward approach. It's up to you!

I'm currently undergoing cancer treatment. Is this program still right for me?

Our mentorship program is the best program and recommended for those undergoing current cancer treatment! Within the mentorship program, you receive 1:1 guided support as you navigate cancer treatment.

Do these programs include any lab work or testing for potential deficiencies?

No, these programs do not. If enrolled in our mentorship program, Alison can make suggestions of what labs to discuss with your physician for future lab draws.

I'm interested in adopting a more plant-based nutrition approach. However, my partner and/or family members are not interested. Can this program still work for me?

This is incredibly common. So common, in fact, that we have an entire unit within the program dedicated to helping to work through these obstacles.

I don't have a history of a cancer diagnosis. Can I still participate in the program?

Yes! The Wholesome Journey reflects many of the recommendations towards the research on cancer, but the program is for anyone interested in adopting a plant-based nutrition approach to reduce the risk of cancer and other chronic diseases. Many individuals with high risk of cancer (such as a genetic mutation) are common students within our programming.

I've already adopted a plant-based nutrition approach. Is this program still right for me, or is it only for beginners?

Our program is for plant-based beginners and those already immersed in plant-based nutrition seeking to refine their approach and ensure nutrition adequacy.

I have a complicated medical history and need a lot of help. Which program is right for me?

If you feel you need more individual attention, the mentorship program would be right for you.

How long do I have access to the program materials?

You'll gain immediate lifetime access to the program content and any future updates made. Should the program discontinue at any point, you'd be given a minimum of 30-day notice via email to download any content you'd like to keep.

I notice the Group Program includes 12-week access to a private group community. Is this program on Facebook or another platform?

Our private group community (available to all group and mentorship students) is hosted through a platform called Kajabi - it is not through Facebook or another social media platform. In fact, the entire program is hosted on Kajabi. After enrolling, you'll receive a username and password to your private account. Within this platform, you'll gain access to the course curriculum and group community. No Facebook account required!

When are the live Group Coaching calls and what if I can't make them live?

You can find the upcoming schedule here. Although we encourage live attendance as much as possible, we understand it just isn't always possible. Every group coaching call is recorded and uploaded to the private community and course platform. If you have questions you would like answered during the group call, we recommend submitting your question prior to the group calls so it can be answered for you. You can then get your answer in the recorded call.

Still have a question that hasn't been answered?

No problem! Send us an email and we'll be sure to get it answered for you.

What if my treatment extends beyond 12-weeks and/or I want further support beyond the program?

After completing The Wholesome Journey program, as an alumni student, there are options for continued support from Alison at a discounted price. You'll have the opportunity to learn more as the program finishes up. I'm here to support you as long as you need and/or want it!
