When cancer treatment feels overwhelming, you deserve nutrition support that meets you there.
(Active treatment only.)
You were just diagnosed.
And suddenly, everything feels uncertain.
One moment, life was moving forward.
Then came the diagnosis, the appointments, the treatment plan, the scans, the decisions, the new medical glossary, the side effects you’re trying to prepare for, and the quiet moments when your mind keeps asking:
Cancer treatment can feel like entering a world you never wanted to understand. So much is decided for you. So much changes quickly. And even when you trust your oncology team, it’s normal to want something—anything—that helps you feel more grounded in your body again.
That’s where nutrition can become one of the places you have support.
Not as pressure.
Not as perfection.
Not as one more thing to get “right.”
But as a steady, personalized way to help you care for your body during treatment, manage side effects as they come up, and feel less alone in the day-to-day moments between appointments.
Because while you cannot control every part of cancer treatment, you deserve support with the parts you can influence.
You may be managing nausea, fatigue, appetite changes, taste changes, digestive issues, weight changes, mouth sores, difficulty eating, or the emotional exhaustion of trying to make food decisions when everything already feels like too much.
And while your oncology team is focused on treating the cancer, you may still be left wondering:
That question matters.
Research and clinical guidelines support the role of nutrition care during cancer treatment, especially when someone is at risk for malnutrition, weight loss, reduced intake, or treatment-related side effects. Nutrition intervention can help support intake, body weight, strength, treatment tolerance, and quality of life during care.
But many patients never receive the level of specialized nutrition support they need. One national survey found an average ratio of only 1 registered dietitian nutritionist for every 2,308 patients in outpatient cancer care programs.
That means too many people are left trying to piece together advice from handouts, internet searches, well-meaning friends, or vague instructions to “just eat whatever sounds good.”
You deserve support that considers your diagnosis, your treatment plan, your symptoms, your preferences, your fears, and your real life.
Because during treatment, nutrition is not about doing everything perfectly.
"I am convinced I was able to tolerate my radiation and chemo because of the guidance you gave me...I thank you for that."
I am so glad that [my oncologist] recommended that I reach out to you so many months ago. You have truly helped me not only with my dietary choices but helped to raise my awareness of how it all syncs with my lifestyle as a whole... I am convinced I was able to tolerate my radiation and chemo because of the guidance you gave me... I thank you for that.
I’m Alison—a cancer survivor, Registered Dietitian, and board certified oncology nutrition specialist.
And I know how scary this part can feel.
I know what it’s like to hear the diagnosis, sit through the appointments, prepare for surgery, walk into chemo, and wonder what your body is going to need from you next.
I also know what it’s like to want something you can do—something that helps you feel a little more steady, supported, and connected to your body when so much feels out of your control.
For more than 10 years, I’ve been board certified in oncology nutrition. But my work in cancer care is not only professional. It’s personal.
When I went through my own cancer treatment, I used the same nutrition strategies I now teach and personalize for my patients. And while nutrition did not make treatment easy, it did make me stronger, more prepared, and more supported through surgery, chemotherapy, targeted therapy, and endocrine therapy.
That experience changed the way I support people forever.
Because cancer nutrition should be more than a handout.
You deserve guidance that considers your diagnosis, your treatment plan, your side effects, your preferences, your fears, and your real life.
That’s why I created Nourished Through Treatment™—to give you the specialized, compassionate oncology nutrition support I believe every person deserves while moving through treatment.
Not to overwhelm you.
Not to give you one more thing to do perfectly.
But to help you feel more nourished, more prepared, and less alone as you move through treatment.
Survivor to survivor
Personalized oncology nutrition support for the in-between moments of cancer treatment.
Nourished Through Treatment™ is a 3-month, virtual 1:1 oncology nutrition program created to support you while you are newly diagnosed, preparing to begin treatment, or actively moving through treatment.
This is not generic nutrition advice. It is not a handout. And it is not someone telling you to “just eat what sounds good” when nausea, fatigue, taste changes, appetite loss, digestive issues, or treatment side effects are making food feel anything but simple.
This program gives you personalized support from someone who understands oncology nutrition clinically—and understands cancer treatment personally.
Together, we’ll look at your diagnosis, treatment plan, symptoms, food preferences, current intake, concerns, and goals so you have clear, realistic guidance for how to nourish your body through what’s ahead.
The goal is not to make you follow a perfect diet.
The goal is to help you feel more supported, more prepared, and more empowered to care for your body during treatment.
HOW I CAN SUPPORT YOU DURING TREATMENT
Support for nausea, fatigue, taste changes, appetite loss, digestive changes, mouth sores, difficulty eating and more.
Helping you get enough nourishment in ways that feel realistic for your body, treatment plan, appetite, and energy level.
Clear guidance around food choices before, during, and after treatment days so you’re not left guessing.
Support for weight loss, weight gain, muscle loss, body composition changes, or concerns about maintaining strength.
If desired, we can explore fasting or fasting-mimicking considerations based on your diagnosis, treatment plan, nutritional status, and oncology team’s guidance.
Realistic meal, snack, hydration, and caregiver-friendly ideas for the days when cooking, planning, or eating feels hard.

“With Alison, there was no pressure. She gave us recipes and ideas on what we could do that were realistic for us. I noticed I started feeling better, the chemo treatments weren’t as bad. Alison’s recipes and tools also gave my family and caregivers something they could help with to make me feel better. As a result, my whole family is eating better and we all feel healthier. For us, this has become a long-term lifestyle.”
Jim Luzinger, Stage 4 Colon Cancer
“I love Alison’s teaching style. She gives you the information, but also explains why it’s important and how to implement it. She explains things in a way that’s easy to understand. She does not make you feel bad at all if you have a slip-up. Whatever lifestyle you choose, she’s there to guide and help. After implementing the plant-based diet I definitely felt better. My joints felt better, more clarity, less brain fog, better energy. I truly believe the better you can feed your body, the better you can heal.”
Daina Boppre, Stage 4 Breast Cancer, Rheumatoid Arthritis
“Alison is just wonderful. She doesn’t judge. She just offers you wonderful information and everything is evidence-based. She had reasons for everything she shared, she could show me why it was a good idea and how I could start doing it. I was 243 pounds when we started and now I weigh 156. Using food as medicine has helped me feel better, I can be more active, and I enjoy being active now. Whether you’re sick or not, this is just a good idea.”
Kathy Sneider, Metaplastic Breast Cancer
We do not accept or bill insurance for our programs at this time.
However, we are approved for the use of HSA/FSA funds, if applicable to your plan.
We truly wish insurance made specialized oncology nutrition support more accessible. Unfortunately, extremely low or unavailable reimbursement rates make it difficult to sustain the personalized, high-touch care offered through Wholesome’s programs.
Because Nourished Through Treatment™ is a meaningful investment, the application process helps ensure the support, timing, and investment feel aligned before you begin.
Frequently Asked Questions
No.
Alison takes a plant-forward, research-informed approach to nutrition, which means you may receive guidance that includes plenty of plant-based foods—like fruits, vegetables, beans, lentils, whole grains, nuts, seeds, herbs, and spices—when they are appropriate and realistic for you.
But plant-forward does not mean plant-only.
This program is not about giving you a rigid meal plan, a restrictive protocol, or a long list of foods you’re “not allowed” to eat. If meat, dairy, eggs, or other animal-based foods are part of your diet and feel supportive for you during treatment, they can absolutely be included.
The goal is to help you nourish your body in a way that is realistic for your diagnosis, treatment plan, symptoms, appetite, energy level, preferences, and real life.
Sometimes that may mean focusing on protein. Sometimes it may mean managing nausea. Sometimes it may mean finding foods that are tolerable when everything tastes different. Sometimes it may mean helping your caregiver know what to make when you don’t know what sounds good.
This is personalized support—not perfection.
It may be.
Some cancer centers have excellent oncology dietitians, and if you already feel well-supported, that is wonderful.
But many patients receive limited nutrition guidance, generic handouts, or advice that does not fully address their diagnosis, treatment plan, side effects, preferences, or day-to-day reality.
Nourished Through Treatment™ gives you high-touch, personalized support from a Registered Dietitian who is board certified in oncology nutrition and has also been through cancer treatment herself.
No.
Nourished Through Treatment™ is designed to complement your oncology care—not replace it.
You should always follow the medical guidance of your oncologist, surgeon, radiation oncologist, nurses, and healthcare team. Alison’s role is to support the nutrition side of your care in a way that aligns with your treatment plan and helps you feel more informed, nourished, and supported.
Support may include nausea, fatigue, appetite changes, taste changes, mouth sores, digestive issues, weight changes, difficulty eating, food aversions, hydration challenges, and questions about what to eat before, during, or after treatment days.
Your support will be personalized based on what you are actually experiencing.
No problem! Send us an email and we'll be sure to get it answered for you.
This program is personalized, high-touch, and designed for a very specific season of cancer care. These answers can help you decide whether Nourished Through Treatment™ feels like the right fit for you.
When desired and appropriate, yes.
Fasting or fasting-mimicking approaches around chemotherapy are not right for everyone. If this is something you are interested in, Alison can help you explore it carefully based on your diagnosis, treatment plan, nutritional status, symptoms, weight trends, and oncology team’s guidance.
The priority is always your safety, nourishment, and ability to move through treatment as well-supported as possible.
I will not provide fasting recommendations outside of a 1:1 patient relationship.
No program can guarantee specific treatment outcomes.
Every diagnosis, treatment plan, body, and side effect experience is different. Nourished Through Treatment™ is designed to provide personalized oncology nutrition support that can help you feel more prepared, informed, and supported as you move through treatment.
Nutrition support is one important part of caring for your body during cancer treatment, but it does not replace medical treatment or guidance from your oncology team.
No. Nourished Through Treatment™ AI is only available to clients enrolled in Nourished Through Treatment™.
This tool was created to complement the personalized work we do together—not replace it. Because cancer treatment nutrition is highly individualized, the AI tool is most helpful when used alongside Alison’s 1:1 guidance, your treatment plan, your symptoms, and the support of your oncology care team.
Keeping the tool inside the program helps ensure you are not relying on AI alone for something as nuanced and important as nutrition during cancer treatment.
Think of it as an added layer of support between sessions—not a standalone program.
Nourished Through Treatment™ is a personalized, 3-month oncology nutrition support program for people who are newly diagnosed, preparing to begin treatment, or currently in active treatment.
Because this program is high-touch and designed for a very specific stage of cancer care, applications help ensure the timing, support, schedule, and investment feel aligned before you begin.
Alison accepts a limited number of clients at a time so each person receives thoughtful, personalized support. 1:1 sessions are typically held on Tuesdays and Thursdays, with flexibility whenever possible because cancer treatment schedules can change quickly.
Once you submit your application, Alison will personally review it to make sure Nourished Through Treatment™ is the right fit for your current treatment stage and support needs.
You’ll receive an email response within 24 business hours, Monday–Friday, with next steps. You’ll also have the opportunity to ask any additional questions before moving forward.

There is no single best chemotherapy diet for every person.
Nutrition during chemotherapy depends on your diagnosis, treatment plan, symptoms, labs, appetite, weight changes, food preferences, and treatment schedule.
Nourished Through Treatment™ provides personalized oncology nutrition support so you are not left guessing.
What to eat while on chemotherapy depends on what you are experiencing.
Some people need more protein and calories, while others need support with nausea, taste changes, mouth sores, diarrhea, constipation, hydration, or food safety.
This program helps personalize those choices to your real life.
Yes—and this is one of the most important times to get support!
Chemotherapy and other cancer treatments can affect appetite, taste, digestion, energy, weight, hydration, and your ability to eat enough protein and calories.
A registered dietitian with oncology expertise can help you manage these nutrition challenges and adjust your eating plan as symptoms change.
Research* shows that nutrition status during cancer treatment is connected to treatment tolerance, side effects, hospital admissions or readmissions, length of stay, and quality of life—so getting proactive nutrition support can make a meaningful difference in how supported and nourished you feel through treatment.
